Patricia Cameron
BA, DKATI

My name is Patricia Cameron BA, DKATI, and I am a professional art therapist registered with the Canadian Art Therapy Association and a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario. I am currently based in the Ottawa area on the unceded Territory of the Anishinaabe Algonquin Nation.

Before I became an art therapist, I worked as a personal support worker and health care-aide for over 12 years, providing one-on-one support for people with a wide variety of diverse abilities. Through this work I learned the importance of being attentive, caring, and compassionate, and developed a passion to support people with all levels of ability to engage in art and art therapy.

As a humanistic, spiritual existentialist, I see all humans as equally deserving to reach their hopes and dreams and to be free from suffering. My role is to help you illuminate a path through the darkness. I see the potential in everyone to overcome challenges and build resilience despite hardships, and I believe in every person’s creative potential to generate their own life. I know that art therapy can help people activate this creative potential. My spirituality informs my view of the world as an interconnected place full of potential for creative change and hope. Striving for the light while honoring the darkness forms my fundamental view of the world. You cannot have light without darkness and life without death.
