Meet Patricia Cameron BA, DKATI, RP
Hi, I’m Patricia Cameron, a Registered Psychotherapist and professional art therapist with the Canadian Art Therapy Association. Based in the Ottawa area on the unceded Territory of the Anishinaabe Algonquin Nation, I offer a compassionate, client-centered approach to therapy, supporting individuals as they navigate life’s challenges and uncover their strengths.
I’m deeply connected to nature—whether I’m exploring the outdoors, swimming, or photographing plants and animals, I find peace and grounding in the natural world. I often bring elements of nature into the art therapy studio, using nature-inspired metaphors or creating art that connects you to the healing power of the outdoors.
My journey has been shaped by both personal and professional experiences. As a sensitive person, I’ve always been deeply in tune with others, which has shaped my work with those who share this trait. I believe that sensitivity is a powerful strength that allows us to connect more meaningfully with the world and each other, and I enjoy helping others embrace this gift.
Having survived leukemia as a child, I understand firsthand what it’s like to face illness and trauma. Art played a crucial role in my healing process, and it’s what inspired me to become an art therapist. I also spent over 12 years working as a personal care attendant for people with physical disabilities, giving me a deep understanding of the challenges faced by caregivers and those living with disabilities.
My approach to therapy is rooted in a blend of creativity, compassion, and intuition, helping you find the tools and support to heal, grow, and discover your path forward.
